Wood Reprocessing
Â

We currently accept a range of feed stock for reprocessing at the Pettigo facility which includes
- Wood Pallet/Demolition Wood Waste
- Forest Waste
- Logs & Stumps
- Garden Waste (Grass Cuttings, Branches, etc)
All such waste received on site is continuously checked and monitored for contamination. It then goes through a process of screening, shredding & grinding to produce a selection of quality products.

Composting
The introduction of Animal By-Product Regulations had a major influence on the construction of a new composting facility, completed in 2005. The 4500 sq m Production & Composting Facility was designed and built to meet both current & forthcoming regulations for high end Category 3 waste material. It is the first of its kind in Ireland and has a capacity to process 10k ton of wet, organic waste and produce a high quality compost at the back end, thus closing the loop and creating a value added product from a traditional waste stream. It was one of the first composting facilities in Ireland to receive Animal By-Product approval (Approval No. – Comp-7).
Â
The process used is classified and acknowledged as an In-Vessel System using membrane covered, positively aerated and monitored static heaps for the intensive and curing phases and an aerated but uncovered maturation phase. The complete process lasts 10 weeks, during which time the material must meet standards laid down by ABP regulations, such as Particle size and Temperature & Time parameters.
Â
Composting feedstock includes:
- Biodegradable Kitchen/Canteen Waste or ‘Brown Bin’ Waste
- Pre & Post Process Food Waste
- Fish & Shellfish Waste
- Various sludges
- Green/Garden Waste
These waste materials originate from the Hospitality/Catering Industries, Food Processing Factories, Fish Factories, Local Authorities, Landscapers and Waste Contractors.

Gypsum Reprocessing
Following the design and build (2004) of a Gypsum/Plaster Board Recycling System which we now operate in Gypsum Industries Ltd, Co Cavan, we formed a joint venture with the European equipment suppliers in 2006 to produce a high quality system (E.G.R.S. – Envirogyp Recycling System) for launching onto the world market. We are the only Irish company offering such a system on the market and use the operational plant in Kingscourt as a showcase for potential customers. To date, the system has attracted interest from Gypsum companies around the world, namely Europe, the United States, Australia and the United Arab Emirates. One such system was recently installed and commissioned in Sydney, Australia with another contract due to start shortly in Melbourne. Discussions are currently underway to install a similar system in Brisbane.
The EGRS Gypsum Recycling System grinds up Waste Gypsum and Plaster Board, removes the paper and mills the Gypsum into a powder allowing it to be reused in the Plaster Board, Agricultural and other industries, e.g. Cement & Moulding Industry. Available in fixed, mobile and semi-mobile formats, the system is suitable for the domestic and worldwide market. For more information, please visit www.egrs.eu
